Innovative lighting design activates the wood core for a dramatic event backdrop.

The new Beaverton cultural center is a major arts destination bringing a diverse range of programming to Portland’s bustling residential neighborhood. The building features an intimate 550-seat theater, art gallery, outdoor plaza, meeting areas, and rehearsal spaces. The Reser turned an empty wetland-straddling property into a thriving arts center that now offers a welcoming community gathering place and a beacon for cultural connections.

Special Features

  • At night, color tunable, concealed LED sources glow and activate the wood core wrapping the theater, guiding patrons into the double height lobby and providing a dynamic backdrop for events. Read more about LUMA's lighting design.

  • The mechanical and plumbing systems are tied into the City of Beaverton’s central chilled water and heating plant for efficiency.

  • Underfloor air distribution in the auditorium for maximum thermal comfort, as well as a 100% dedicated outside air system (DOAS) for healthy indoor air quality.
